Pros

  • Proud to be Scotland’s first and only official charity-partnered law firm
  • Donates 10% of your legal fee to charity
  • Wide range of conveyancing services

Cons

  • Could work on better communication with clients
  • Reports of unresponsive and unprofessional staff

If you are looking to support a charity while also hiring a legal firm for conveyancing purposes, then we think Nero Legal is a good option for you.

We think it’s quite cool that they are Scotland’s first and only official charity-partnered law firm. They are currently partnered with well-established charities such as Make a Wish, Save the Children, Young Minds, and the British Heart Foundation.

Not only do they raise awareness for these charities, but they financially support them as well. We are impressed that they donate 10% of your legal fee to charity, and you have the option to choose which charity to donate to!

They have a wide selection of conveyancing services, which can be convenient for some clients who need multiple services in one go. Some of these services include property negotiations, contract development, and title checks.

Their rates were also said to be comparable to other firms, which tells us they are nicely within the range of industry standards.

Unfortunately, we’ve heard reports that they need to work on their communication. Some customers were not informed of relevant information, resulting in sales falling through.

Some clients also mentioned that the staff had some negligence issues. Apparently, they lost important documents that these clients had to redo.

We hope that they don’t repeat these mistakes to keep clients reassured that they’re in good and reliable hands.

Pros

  • Quick turnaround times
  • Great range of conveyancing services
  • Reasonable fees

Cons

  • Some issues with higher actual costs compared to initial quotes
  • Reports of extra charges being added without consulting clients

If you want a speedy conveyancing experience, then we believe BK Gill Solicitors can satisfy your needs.

This firm has a great range of conveyancing services. These include wills and executries, powers of attorney, shared equity and part exchange transactions, and even remortgaging.

Several of their clients were happy with the quick turnaround times they provided, making them feel valued. Instead of the normal timeline of 12-16 weeks, they managed to complete the conveyancing in less than 12 weeks.

We also appreciate how responsive and accommodating they are while dealing with their clients. Former clients loved how they called to follow-up after sending them the initial quote unlike other firms who did not proactively call back.

In terms of cost, most of their clients were happy with the initial quotes they were given since they were comparatively cheaper than the other quotes they received.

However, there were times wherein the actual price billed was higher than the given quote. Apparently, this was due to additional costs which should have been optional, but were somehow included in the computation without informing them.

Some clients were also surprised by the extra charges that were added without their knowledge. This made them feel like the company was trying to pad their bills, which is troubling.

We recommend that you inquire about any possible extra charges that could be incurred after hiring them for your needs.

Pros

  • Has a combined 35 years of experience with conveyancing and property law
  • Great for first-time buyers
  • Patient and reassuring solicitors
  • Also specialises in guardianship

Cons

  • Minor issues with communication
  • Limited range of conveyancing services

With an impressive 35 years of combined experience with conveyancing services and property law, the firm Weaver and Waddell Solicitors certainly seems to know what they are doing.

We believe that this firm might be the best option for first-time home buyers. Several clients in this category loved their reassuring manner and appreciated how everything was clearly explained to them.

Other past clients also commended the firm’s professional and patient solicitors. Apparently, these solicitors managed to address their concerns in a reassuring manner and made sure the transactions went smoothly.

However, this law firm also seems to have issues with communication. For example, some former clients sent details of their property for review, yet no one called them back for weeks.

What’s unique about this firm is that they also specialise in guardianship orders. This will greatly help adults with incapacities who are in need of this type of order to legally initiate conveyancing and other legal processes.

Besides this, though, the range of their conveyancing services is quite limited compared to other firms. They handle mostly matters of purchase and sale conveyancing services.

This means those who need council house purchase advice or shared equity and part exchange transactions would need to look elsewhere.

Still, for first time buyers, we think Weaver and Waddell Solicitors is quite capable of assisting them in their conveyancing concerns.

Pros

  • Known for ‘Partner-Led’ service
  • No charge for unsuccessful offers
  • No upfront payment needed
  • Offers highly competitive rates

Cons

  • Limited range of conveyancing services
  • Some issues with the quality of service

For those on a tight budget or are not able to pay upfront, MacRae & Kaur Solicitors is probably a good firm to try.

First, this law firm prides itself in providing ‘Partner-Led’ service, which we admire. They guarantee that any work will be carried out by their senior partners, which goes to show how they take each client seriously.

What impressed us is that they will not charge you for unsuccessful offers. Also, if your house is not sold, there would be no fees applied, which is reassuring.

Unlike other firms, there is no upfront payment required either. This will certainly help out clients with tight finances or those who are not fully liquid at the moment.

Several former clients also mentioned that this firm offers the cheapest rates for conveyancing services.

However, compared to other law firms, MacRae & Kaur Solicitors has a limited range of conveyancing services. It focuses mostly on residential purchase & sale, remortgages, andl commercial matters.

At times, their staff members were also said to be lacking in skills. Clients have reported that they neglected to go through some important stages in the conveyancing process, which highly inconvenienced them.

This law firm should look into retraining or upskilling sooner rather than later to avoid losing their current and potential clients.

Pros

  • Wide range of residential and commercial conveyancing services
  • Reasonable fees with no hidden charges
  • Member of several prestigious organisations

Cons

  • Lacks clear and open communication
  • Issues of giving subpar legal advice

Said to be one of Glasgow’s finest law firms that provide conveyancing services, Raeside + Chisholm is definitely one that you’d want to keep in mind.

First off, this law firm offers a wide range of residential and commercial conveyancing services. These include providing bank liaisons and assistance with equity release, mortgage discharge, buying & selling your home, and contracts.

According to previous clients, their fees were also reasonable. We also like the fact that they do not include any hidden charges.

This law firm is also a member of several prestigious organisations such as Resolution, The Law Society of Scotland, Family Law Association, and Consensus. We think these affiliations help in upping this firm’s credibility.

However, we were sad to hear that some clients have experienced communication issues with their staff. Apparently, letters and emails were not replied to, and a certain manager even kept hanging up on them when he was asked difficult questions.

Some were also not happy with the legal advice they were provided.

Upon checking with other solicitors, they believed that the firm’s suggestions to offer payments that were above market values were erroneous since these caused artificial hype in the market.
