Pros
- Solicitors are accredited by the Law Society of Scotland
- Legal aid available for qualified individuals
- Offers in-person and online consultations
- Pricing matrix is available
- Specialises in human rights and asylum law
- Has a dedicated team for minors
Cons
- Minor complaints about slow service
- Some issues regarding staff’s unresponsiveness and poor behaviour
Latta & Co Solicitors gave us a stellar first impression because of their immigration law team’s qualifications.
We thought it was impressive that their team is composed of 3 accredited immigration law specialists, with their Managing Director being the first to be accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.
It’s also worth highlighting that they specialise in asylum law and human rights. So, even without legal status, they can help you get the necessary paperwork done to begin living in Scotland legally.
The fact that they have a dedicated team to assist minors strengthened our positive impression of them. It’s relieving to know that they prioritise ensuring minors’ comfort and wellbeing.
As for accessibility, we like that their solicitors can speak a few different languages. They also have several in-house translators to help close any language barriers.
However, they’re only operational on weekdays. To make up for it, it’s quite convenient that they offer in-person and online consultations via Skype or Facetime.
We’ve also encountered a few minor complaints about slow service. In our opinion, this may be because they’re often quite busy due to high demand.
Another strong point includes having a readily available price matrix. While legal fees ultimately depend on the specifications of each case, we appreciate the transparency of their pricing as interested clients will already have an idea of the cost of their services.
Oh, did we mention that they also provide legal aid for qualified individuals? We like that they aim to make their legal services more accessible to many.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed to hear several complaints about poor customer service. To be specific, many of their past clients shared poor experiences with their staff’s unresponsiveness and rude behaviour.

Pros
- Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland
- Legal aid is available
- Part of the top 40 law firms in Scotland according to The Times Best Law Firms 2020 and 2021
- Have experience working alongside several governmental departments
Cons
- Minor complaints about poor appointment scheduling
- Some issues regarding staff’s rudeness and lack of concern
When hiring a law firm, you’d want the best of the best right? Well, it’s worth highlighting that Katani & Co Solicitors is one of Scotland’s top 40 law firms according to The Times Best Law Firms 2020 and 2021.
Apart from that, they’re also accredited by the Law Society of Scotland. We like that their impressive credentials accurately reflect the quality of their work, which many of their past clients can vouch for.
They provide several services concerning immigration law, from living permanently in the UK to seeking asylum. These include helping clients identify the best course of action for their case and then actualising it.
It’s also worth noting that they have extensive experience working alongside various governmental departments. So, they can provide the most efficient route for each case.
We think that having them every step of the way definitely boosts our confidence in their ability to win cases since they’ve been handling it since the beginning. So, they’re well-versed with the intricacies of each case.
Disappointingly, we did hear a few complaints from past clients about poor behaviour from their staff. Many protests centered around rude attitudes and lack of concern, which we undeniably find appalling.
Meanwhile, others complained about poor appointment scheduling, with some waiting for over an hour to be seen. We hope their administration implements stricter time keeping to ensure that clients won’t have to wait too long before they’re accommodated.
On a brighter note, it’s great that they offer legal aid as this will help make their services within reach of needful individuals.

Pros
- Has several global partnerships that would benefit business-related immigration services
- Pricing information is readily available on their website
- Regulated by the Law Society of Scotland
- Online and multiple payment methods accepted
- Has a wide network with international immigration lawyers
Cons
- Limited asylum-related services
- Services are available in English only
In our opinion, it was exciting to see that Burness Paull has several established connections within the UK and internationally. We think this greatly benefits their global immigration law expertise with several international partnerships.
In particular, we think this level of global mobility would greatly interest those in need of corporate, business, investment, and entrepreneur-related immigration services.
Aside from that, they also offer immigration services for families and individuals, from several different visas (such as visits, partner/spouse, etc.) to British citizenship (naturalisation and registration).
However, they have limited asylum-related services. In particular, they only offer Appeals to First Tier and Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber).
On the bright side, we found it impressive that they have a solid network of international immigration lawyers. These connections allow them to easily access global specialist advice.
In addition to the rest of their qualifications, they’re regulated by the Law Society of Scotland. So, in our opinion, compliance with the governing regulatory bodies is nothing to worry about.
We were pleasantly surprised to find their pricing information readily available on their website. We also appreciate the detailedness of the inclusions of their legal fees.
It’s also convenient that they accept payments made via debit or credit card. To boot, clients can also pay online via their website by using their unique reference number.
While everything seems to be going smoothly, we were disappointed that their website and services are only available in English. In our opinion, having a translator would be greatly beneficial for those who aren’t native English speakers.

Pros
- Free no-obligation consultations
- Solicitors have a wealth of experience in immigration cases
- Have in-house linguists
- Offers free no-obligation consultations for immigration queries
- Legal fees can be arranged on a fixed fee basis
Cons
- Quite a busy firm
- Free consultations only have 10 slots weekly
If you’re looking for a firm that specifically specialises in immigration law, then One Immigration Solutions is the firm you’ve been looking for.
They provide professional services in advising, acquisition, and representation for visas, citizenship, and naturalisation, to name a few.
We also like that they offer free no-obligation initial consultations for those with immigration queries. This can be done either in their Glasgow office or via video conferencing apps such as Skype and WhatsApp.
In our opinion, this is a great avenue for interested clients to ask questions, make clarifications, and better see how the firm’s lawyers can be of service to them.
However, free consultations only have 10 available slots weekly. While this does help eliminate accessibility barriers, it’s still a tad disappointing that there’s limited availability.
On the brighter side, we think this minor inconvenience is a testament to their solicitors’ level of expertise and familiarity with immigration cases. Especially since they’re quite a busy firm.
They even have in-house linguists who speak several languages to make things more accessible for their clients. In our opinion, this helps increase trust and openness as they break down communication barriers.
Apart from that, their legal fees can be arranged on a fixed fee basis. This way, interested clients have the opportunity to hire a solicitor that fits their budget.

Pros
- Specialises in immigration law for personal and business
- Solicitors have a wealth of experience in immigration cases
- Qualified to provide Sponsor Licence Compliance Training
- Regulated by the Law Society of Scotland
- Solicitors are compassionate, professional, and a great support system to their clients
Cons
- No readily available information on legal services
- No free initial consultation
SJK Solicitors is a firm highly worth checking out because it specialises in immigration law related to personal and business-related services.
Regulated by the Law Society of Scotland, they’re well-versed and experienced with the ins and outs of UK visas and permits for families, students, investors, and entrepreneurs.
For Sponsor Compliance, we were impressed to find that they’re also qualified to provide Sponsor Licence Compliance Training.
This ensures that sponsors have the necessary tools and information for their company to remain compliant with the rules and protocols in the UK.
Aside from that, they also provide services for refusals and appeals. Simply by providing this service, we have a deep appreciation that they allow migrants to have unrestricted access to justice.
Unfortunately, we were a tad disappointed that they don’t have any information on their legal fees readily available. Hence, clients will have to get a quotation through their consultation, which we were also saddened to know isn’t complimentary either.
To turn things around, we’ve heard many praises from their past clients about their A+ customer service. Many shared positive encounters with their staff, commending their compassion and professionalism.
Apart from professional advice, we appreciate the support their solicitors give to their clients. Given how challenging immigration is, we think this greatly boosts the morale of many of their downhearted clients.
